54th Annual Scientific Congress – 2021
The 54th Annual Scientific Congress was held at the BMICH, Colombo on the days 26th, 27th and 28th of November 2021. The theme of the conference was “Back to Basics”.
The Chief Guest of the event was Hon. Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa and Madam Shiranthi Rajapksa. The Guest of Honor was Health Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella. The Special Guests included Maj. Gem Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe and Dr. Asela Gunawardane.
On the Inauguration Day, the Dr. D.A Ranasinghe Oration was delivered by Prof. Hemantha Dodampahala on the topic, “Evolving Paradigms of Fetal Hypoxia”.
Following this was an excellent 2-day academic program, in which an array of distinguished speakers spoke on various topics including COVID-19 situation in Sri Lanka, Prenatal Sciences, Reducing Maternal Mortality, Obstetric Endocrinology, Operative Gynaecology, Gynaecological Oncology, Genetics/Genomics, Subfertility, Perinatal care and more.
The Congress also consisted of Oral Presentations and E-Posters by trainees and Consultants, on which the best 3 papers were selected. We also shared a few innovative ideas of young minds in the Young Gynaecologists Award presentation, out of which the best 3 studies were appointed in the presence of Prof. Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran.
